Gabriel Díaz presented at Integral Voice: VASTA’s 2024 Leeds Symposium in October this year at Leeds School of Arts, Leeds Beckett University. The symposium addressed key questions surrounding the future of voice practice. Gabriel led participants in an exploration of how testimonies and voice can transform the understanding of migration. By challenging and reshaping dominant narratives through theatre and performance, the session invited attendees to consider the political, institutional, and ethical dimensions of voice in creating stories that echo the complex realities of contemporary migration. Gabriel presented at the Department of Theatre and Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London, during its second annual Postgraduate Research Conference on Friday, 5 July 2024. His oral paper, Performance and Testimonio: Reconstructing the Memory of Chile’s 2019 Social Outbreak, explored the role of performance in shaping collective memory. The conference aimed to examine how theatre and performance practice and research contribute to prosperity, both in terms of social cohesion and economic viability. In June 2024, Gabriel participated in the Performance Epistemologies of the Global Majority Summer School, a five-day intensive program held in London and sponsored by the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Northwestern University. This program explored diverse ways of knowing emerging from Black, Global Majority, and Indigenous cultures, bringing together international scholars from Dance, Theatre, and Performance Studies to examine how these epistemologies shape performance thinking and making. Additionally, He took part in PSi #29 – Assemble!, the twenty-ninth annual conference of Performance Studies international (PSi), held from June 20 to 23 in London. Hosted by The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in collaboration with the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT), the conference explored the theme of «Assemble,» focusing on collective creative responses to global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate crisis, and social justice movements.
